Spartans Come Back Late, Nip Tune-Ups
|
The Spartans grabbed a win, 3-2, at The Coliseum, overcoming a fine effort from Youngstown pitcher Katsutaro Nishikawa. Nishikawa went 6 innings and allowed no earned runs. Sandy Springs has a 6-game win streak, while Youngstown has lost 3 in a row.
Steve Pyles was the walk-off hero for Sandy Springs. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Spartans center fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Youngstown manager Robby Tate.
