Black Bears Drop Beehive with Late Score
|
The Fraser Valley Black Bears picked up a win at The Stetson Bowl, knocking off the Madison Beehive, 5-4. Starting pitcher Adam Andersen played a key role in the triumph. Fraser Valley reliever Ignacio Ramírez picked up the win, bumping his record to 3-0. Duane Fraser was collared with the loss. Jorge Rodríguez earned his 4th save in 6 chances.
Had Robby Nave not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Nave hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Black Bears.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Andersen told the Fraser Valley Daily News.
The Black Bears are now 78-59, while the Beehive fall to 52-84.
