Monarchs Lose, 6-2, at San Jose Municipal Stadium
|
Silicon Valley beat Marysville on the strength of starter Ron Callaghan's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 6-2 win. Callaghan, now 12-9, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 9, walking 1, and allowing 1 earned run. The Hackers bumped their record to 80-58 with this latest triumph.
The Hackers got a big at-bat from first baseman John Farley. For the game, Farley was 1 for 3 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 82nd hit of the season gave Silicon Valley a 3-1 lead.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Silicon Valley manager Bob Miller.
