Victory Pushes Wolverines Record to 83-50
|
The Wichita Wolverines topped the Sandy Springs Spartans, 6-4, with youngster Freddy Ramos playing a key role. Ramos went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Wolverines in the win. Jay Retter got the win, improving to 12-7. He worked 8 innings, giving up 4 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. Wichita leads the Roy Halladay League Jim Leyland Division by 5 games.
The Wolverines got a big at-bat from center fielder Francisco Enriquez. For the game, Enriquez went 1-5 with a triple. He scored 2 runs. In the top of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring triple. His 11th triple of the season gave Wichita a 1-0 lead.
