Cornhuskers Win at Marysville, 3-1
|
DeKalb and Marysville duked it out at Mitts Fieldhouse and the Cornhuskers came out victorious.
Sabino Acosta helped his team muscle past the Marysville Monarchs, 3-1. In the game, the DeKalb catcher went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times. DeKalb reliever Kazushige Kichida was the winner. His record is now 3-3. The losing pitcher was Ryan Le Carré. Manny López was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 13 of 13 save opportunities.
DeKalb shortstop Kyle McWilliams contributed to the cause with a single in the top of the fourth. For the game, McWilliams went 1 for 3.
Afterward, Cornhuskers manager Eduardo Varerla was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
The Cornhuskers bumped their record to 66-65 with this latest triumph.
