Lights Lose, 6-5, at The Stetson Bowl
|
Despite a fine performance by center fielder Sergio Ferrer, the Phoenix Lights suffered a 6-5 loss to the Fraser Valley Black Bears. Ferrer was 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Fraser Valley reliever Alex Rivas picked up the win, upping his record to 5-1. Bartolo Urbina took the loss. Gabriel Pérez notched his 1st save in 1 chances.
The Black Bears got a big at-bat from second baseman Dave Cano. For the game, Cano was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 10th home run of the season gave Fraser Valley a 6-3 lead.
"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Cano.
The 4th-place Lights have lost 5 consecutive games.
