Tornadoes Clip Hornets in Tight Contest
|
The Kansas City Tornadoes defeated the Eureka Hornets, 5-3, at Debris Field. Kansas City pinch hitter Manny Silva was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 1 for 1 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Kansas City reliever Robinson Merrado picked up the win to move to 9-0. Hulusi Mumcu suffered the loss. Tomoyuki Kiyomizu, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 12th save.
Silva had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a full count fastball from Hulusi Mumcu, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Tornadoes a 5-2 lead. It was the 5th home run of the year for Silva.
"It feels good to get this one," Silva told the Kansas City Times.
Kansas City now has a 3-game win streak.
