Black Bears Raise Rally Flag, Beat Sandy Springs, 5-4
|
The Fraser Valley Black Bears picked up a win at The Stetson Bowl, knocking off the Sandy Springs Spartans, 5-4. Starting pitcher Eric Sanford, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. The winner was Fraser Valley reliever Yoshiiku Kikuchi, now 3-3. The loser was Juan Yarrito. Fraser Valley has a 3-game win streak, while Sandy Springs has lost 3 in a row.
Robby Nave was the walk-off hero for Fraser Valley. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Black Bears designated hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Fraser Valley manager Casey Ramey.
