Fraser Valley withstood an impressive performance by Sandy Springs right fielder Hirofumi Ishibashi to defeat the Spartans, 7-6, at The Stetson Bowl. Ishibashi was 3-4 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Fraser Valley reliever Juan López picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. Barend Bilderbeek was saddled with the loss. The Black Bears bumped their record to 70-53 with this latest triumph.
Jerry Jaeger, who is rated as the 78th best prospect by BNN, chipped in for Fraser Valley with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Jaeger said.
