Velez Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits
It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Benito Velez today -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at The Coliseum and paced the Ducks to a 18-8 win over the Sandy Springs Spartans.

After his dynamite batting performance, the Long Island second baseman told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control."

His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 6 tries and put his name in the record book. Benito Velez singled in the 3rd, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and flied out in the 9th.
