Perez Excels, But Osos Win
Buzzard's Bay catcher Gil Perez was sensational. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Ruidoso beat the Beetlecats, 8-7. Perez was named the player of the game despite the loss. Ruidoso reliever Tommy Pucher picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Takeo Takano was saddled with the loss. The Osos bumped their record to 62-54 with this latest triumph.

The Osos got a big at-bat from designated hitter Tony Cervantes. For the game, Cervantes went 1 for 3 with 2 walks. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 65th hit of the season gave Ruidoso a 6-5 lead.

"We'll take this win and move on," said Cervantes.
