Hops Best Sasquatch in Pitching Duel
|
The Seattle Sasquatch got a superb performance from pitcher Garth Daniels, but the San Diego Hops still won the game, 2-1. Daniels was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 8 innings of 3-hit ball. Francisco Zúńiga earned the win to go to 1-0. He allowed 1 earned run on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. Even with the win, the Hops have a dismal 16-31 record.
The Hops got a big at-bat from shortstop Sean Hayward. For the game, Hayward went 1-3 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 5th double of the season gave San Diego a 2-0 lead.
