Julio Ochoa pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Long Island Ducks, despite Ochoa's fine outing, dropped a 3-2 decision to the Sandy Springs Spartans at The Coliseum. Sandy Springs reliever Takuya Funaki was credited with the win, to go to 5-2. Julio Ochoa took the loss for Long Island. Jonathan Woodward got the save, his 1st in 1 chances.
In the bottom of the 6th, center fielder Jen-ta Zhong gave Sandy Springs the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Spartans had been trailing 2-1, but the two-out single off Long Island pitcher Julio Ochoa changed that -- and Sandy Springs went on to win.
"I was a little disappointed," said Long Island manager Blake Malone. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
Sandy Springs has now won 5 in a row.
