DeKalb played host to Wichita at the friendly confines of The Corn Crib.

The Wichita Wolverines got a superb performance from pitcher Emílio Buenvenida. Still, it wasn't enough to beat DeKalb. The Cornhuskers won the game, 4-3. In spite of the loss, Buenvenida was named the player of the game. He threw 8 innings of 3-hit ball. Ray Burns got credit for the win, improving to 6-1. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 2 innings.

Sabino Acosta swatted a 2-run home run for DeKalb in the bottom of the 12th. The catcher went 2 for 5 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and batted in 2.

Acosta called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
