Cornhuskers Win at Topeka, 5-2
|
Jim Bailey did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Topeka Predators from losing, 5-2, to the DeKalb Cornhuskers at The Field at Richmond. Bailey went 2-2 with a home run and a walk. The winner was DeKalb reliever Francisco Flores, now 2-0. The loser was Angel Chavez. DeKalb has now won 3 in a row.
The Cornhuskers got a big at-bat from center fielder Neal Harris. For the game, Harris was 3 for 4 with 3 singles. In the top of the sixth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 50th hit of the season gave DeKalb a 3-2 lead.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said DeKalb skipper Eduardo Varerla.
