Eureka pitcher Su-gyung Park gave the Tornadoes all they could handle, but in the end, Kansas City left Debris Field with a 3-1 win. Park allowed 3 earned runs on 10 hits over 7.2 innings. Tomoyuki Kiyomizu locked down his 11th save. Kansas City, at 20-22, occupies 4th place in the Thurman Munson League Sparky Anderson Division.
The Tornadoes got a big at-bat from first baseman Matt Winters. For the game, Winters was 2-4 with 2 singles. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 45th hit of the season gave Kansas City a 2-1 lead.
In postgame comments to the Kansas City Times, Winters said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
