The Sandy Springs Spartans trumped the Madison Beehive, 8-4, at The Coliseum. Sandy Springs catcher Keisaku Yamashita was named player of the game for his performance. He was 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Sandy Springs reliever Randy McKinney picked up the win to move to 2-1. Takayuki Tominaga suffered the loss.

Cris Serrano had a chance to do some damage in the top of the fourth. With Madison trailing 7-1, Madison had the bases loaded. Serrano hit a run-scoring single. But it was not enough for Madison to finish the comeback.

The win boosts the Spartans to 53-52. The loss puts the Beehive at 39-64.
