The Wichita Wolverines defeated the Fraser Valley Black Bears, 6-5, at Howling Park today. Leading the charge for Wichita was first baseman Orlando Talamantez. He went 2 for 4 with a double and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Shu-de Tian picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 5-1. Yoichibei Matsubara was tagged with the loss. Wichita leads the Roy Halladay League Jim Leyland Division by 5˝ games.

Bob Wright was the walk-off hero for Wichita. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Wolverines right fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
