Both teams had their chances, but the Portland Beavers eventually prevailed at Metroplex Park.

The Portland Beavers bested the Dallas Texans, 7-6, at Metroplex Park. Robert Mentzer was named player of the game. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Olivier Martin recorded the save for Portland, his 14th of the season.

Mentzer contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Portland in the top of the fifth. With his team trailing 5-4, Mentzer took a fastball from Nicolas Dupuis and stroked the home run to left. His 6th home run of the season allowed the Beavers to leap in front, 6-5.

"I hate to be the fly in the ointment," said Mentzer, "but we could've played better."

The Beavers' win now puts them at 22-22.
