Victory Pushes Hawks Record to 53-46
|
Boise and Rock River duked it out at The Rat Hole and the Hawks came out victorious.
The Boise Hawks topped the Rock River Rats by the score of 5-2, with the largest share of the credit going to first baseman Jesús Castillo. Castillo went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times for the Hawks. Tommy Montgomery got credit for the win, improving to 7-4. He allowed 1 run on 6 hits in 6 innings.
Ed Mathias came through for Boise with a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth. The third baseman went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and collected 2 runs batted in.
"I thought we played a nice game," Castillo told the Boise News. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
The Hawks saw their win-loss record go to 53-46. At the same time, the Rats fell to 58-39.
