|
Carson City left fielder Chris Tanner was sensational. He went 3-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Youngstown beat the Mustang, 8-4. Tanner was named the player of the game despite the loss. Luis Vásquez earned the win to go to 6-6. He allowed 4 earned runs on 6 hits, with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. Youngstown is now riding a 3-game win streak.
Guo-ning Siu, who is tied for 8th in the CLL in runs scored with 54, aided the Youngstown cause with a 3-run home run in the top of the second. For the game, the shortstop was 1-6 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Siu told the Youngstown News. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
