Rats Get Road Win, 3-1
|
The rain at The Corn Crib did not keep Rock River and DeKalb from finishing their game.
Rock River right-hander Jeff Stephens made an effective start against the DeKalb Cornhuskers at The Corn Crib, leading his team to a 3-1 win. Stephens, the winner, moves to 7-5. He threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 4 walks. Alonso Esquivel, credited with the save, is now 8 for 9 in save opportunities.
Mario Torres, who is tied for 10th in the RHL in triples with 4, aided the Rock River cause with a run-scoring walk in the top of the sixth. For the game, the second baseman was 1-3 with a walk.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Rock River manager Bruce Leah.
Rock River is now 58-37, 2 games up in the Roy Halladay League Bruce Bochy Division.
