Black Bears Prevail, 4-3, Over Sandy Springs
|
The Fraser Valley Black Bears topped the Sandy Springs Spartans, 4-3, with shortstop Emanuel Torres playing a big role. Torres went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Black Bears in the win. At 55-38, Fraser Valley is in second place in the Roy Halladay League Bruce Bochy Division.
Dave Calderon went 1 for 2 with 2 walks for Fraser Valley. The 23-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring walk off Harmon Anstey. It was his 23rd walk of the season.
Torres called the win "a collective effort."
