Tune-Ups Prevail, 5-3, Over Riverside
|
The Youngstown Tune-Ups knocked off the Riverside Red Bulls, 5-3, at Joey Naples Memorial Colloseum. Ken Boyer, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Youngstown won. The catcher went 3-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The Tune-Ups, at 38-56, sit in 5th place in the Cory Lidle League Lou Piniella League.
Had Cole Capone not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Capone hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Tune-Ups.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Boyer.
