Storm Troopers Win at Wichita, 7-2
|
Fans at Howling Park were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Wichita Wolverines take on the San Antonio Storm Troopers.
The San Antonio Storm Troopers topped the Wichita Wolverines, 7-2, in Roy Halladay League action at Howling Park. The player of the game was San Antonio left fielder Edwin Ruiz. Lorenzo Ortega, credited with the save, is now 1 for 6 in save opportunities.
The Storm Troopers got a big at-bat from designated hitter Bryan Kirby. For the game, Kirby was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. In the top of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 8th home run of the season gave San Antonio a 3-1 lead.
"Good pitching stops good hitting," said Ruiz. "And vice-versa."
The Storm Troopers bumped their record to 54-40 with this latest triumph.
