The Silicon Valley Hackers got a sterling performance from pitcher António Domínguez, but the Hawks still prevailed, 2-1. Domínguez was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 6 innings of shutout ball. Tommy Brereton picked up the win, improving his season record to 6-4. He struck out 7 in 7.2 innings. The Hawks bumped their record to 50-45 with this latest triumph.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and two out in the bottom of the sixth inning. That's when designated hitter Cheol-chung Back, who is tied for 5th in the CLL with a .972 OPS, drew a walk. The Hawks went on to win.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Back.
