Islanders Deal Stogies Painful Loss
|
Rodrigo Garza was in top form in a low-scoring contest between Hawaii and Havana. The Islanders right-hander was named the player of the game in Hawaii's 2-1 win. Allen Cox picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-3. Felipe Arreola was tagged with the loss. The third-place Islanders improved to 24-19.
Late-game drama came in the bottom of the tenth inning. With one out and a runner on 2nd, the batter, Declan Ringer, hit a single. It helped Hawaii seize the win.
"This place sure got loud," said Leland Ray, the Hawaii manager.
