Fans who came to Howling Park watched the Wichita Wolverines and the Cincinnati Snaps fight to the finish.

The Wichita Wolverines racked up a win at Howling Park, bumping off the Cincinnati Snaps, 5-4. Emílio Buenvenida, who started for Wichita, pitched effectively for his team. The Wolverines bumped their record to 53-32 with this latest triumph.

The Wolverines got a big at-bat from designated hitter Willis Pierce. For the game, Pierce was 2 for 6 with 2 singles. In the bottom of the tenth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 95th hit of the season gave Wichita a 5-4 lead.

"Emílio was pounding the zone," said Wichita manager Clement Snow.
