|
Beetlecats first baseman Kevin Howard put his stamp on his team's 9-1 win over the Pacifica Shamrocks. Howard went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2 for Buzzard's Bay in the contest. Qing-lai Juan got the win, improving to 3-7. He worked 5 innings, giving up 1 run on 5 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. Takashi Toru notched his 1st save in 3 chances.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, third baseman Mitsunori Nauert came through big-time for the Beetlecats. With Buzzard's Bay leading 5-1, he belted a grand slam home run.
"We did more than enough to get the win," said Nauert.
The Beetlecats go to 40-41, putting them 4th in the Cory Lidle League Gene Mauch Division.
