Black Bears Get Road Win, 11-7
|
The Fraser Valley Black Bears overcame a good performance by Long Island first baseman Ed Jackson to knock off Long Island, 11-7, at Long Island Stadium. Jackson went 2-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Yoichibei Matsubara converted his 1st save in 1 tries. The Black Bears bumped their record to 48-33 with this latest triumph.
The Black Bears got a big at-bat from left fielder Kojuro Yamaguchi. For the game, Yamaguchi went 1-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. In the top of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Fraser Valley a 5-4 lead.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Yamaguchi. "And not try to do too much."
