Gutiérrez Stars in Ducks Win
Long Island played host to Pacifica at the friendly confines of Long Island Stadium.

The Long Island Ducks knocked off the Pacifica Shamrocks, 9-3, at Long Island Stadium. Fernando Gutiérrez, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Long Island won. The center fielder went 2-3 with a home run, a triple, and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. António Domínguez got credit for the win, improving to 3-7. He allowed 3 runs on 5 hits in 6.1 innings.

Gutiérrez contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Long Island in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 1-0, Gutiérrez took a cutter from Jose Artola and stroked the home run to right-center. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Ducks to leap in front, 4-1.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Gutiérrez said.

The Ducks bumped their record to 42-38 with this latest triumph.
