Victory Over Bullets Takes Wichita to 49-31
The Wichita Wolverines took Biloxi pitcher Lourenço Russa's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Howling Park. The final score had Wichita getting past the Bullets, 5-4. Russa went 5 innings and allowed 1 earned run, striking out 6. Emílio Buenvenida got credit for the win, improving to 9-6. He allowed 3 runs on 6 hits in 8 innings. Hiroo Okimura notched his 23rd save in 25 chances.

The Wolverines got a big at-bat from left fielder Alan Isaac. For the game, Isaac went 1 for 4 with a triple. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the seventh, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 7th triple of the season gave Wichita a 5-3 lead.

"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Wichita manager Clement Snow.
