Despite a great performance by Rock River center fielder Ed Burr, the Youngstown Tune-Ups defeated the Rats by the score of 6-5 at The Rat Hole. Burr went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Bunjiro Kodama got credit for the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. Bruce Cunningham notched his 3rd save in 3 chances.

Had Travis Hickey not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Hickey hit a 3-run home run. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Tune-Ups.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Hickey told a Youngstown News reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."

Youngstown is now 35-45.
