Behind a solid performance from designated hitter Larry Franzen, the Carson City Mustang defeated the Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats, 8-2. Franzen went 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Mustang. Carson City reliever Juan Cruz picked up the win, upping his record to 3-3. Yasukatsu Yonemura took the loss. The Mustang sit in 4th place in the Roy Halladay League Jim Leyland Division with a record of 35-45.

Franzen came through with some timely hitting for Carson City. With the score 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth and two down, Franzen hit a 0-2 fastball for a grand slam home run. His 7th home run of the season made it 5-1, Carson City.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Franzen told a Carson City Today reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
