The Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats defeated the DeKalb Cornhuskers, 2-1, in Cory Lidle League action at Bloomfield Road, with Buzzard's Bay pitcher Jesús Tobías named player of the game. Kenny Moran, credited with the save, is now 11 for 11 in save opportunities. The Cornhuskers have now dropped 7 straight.
The Beetlecats got a big at-bat from catcher Ángel Aquino. For the game, Aquino was 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 16th hit of the season gave Buzzard's Bay a 2-1 lead.
"We played hard and won," said Tobías. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
