Monarchs Stymie Long Island, Take 5-1 Win
|
The Marysville Monarchs defeated the Long Island Ducks, 5-1, in Cory Lidle League action at Mitts Fieldhouse, with Marysville pitcher Eduardo Alaniz named player of the game. Alaniz picked up the win for Marysville, going 5.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 1-4. Brian Reddin, credited with the save, is now 11 for 14 in save opportunities.
The Monarchs got a big at-bat from center fielder Shoshi Kimura. For the game, Kimura went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the second, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 8th hit of the season gave Marysville a 2-0 lead.
"We played hard and won," said Alaniz. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
The 5th-place Monarchs lifted their record to 35-43.
