Hellcats Stymie Madison, Take 2-1 Win
|
The Jacksonville Hellcats did just enough to sneak past the Madison Beehive, 2-1, at Hellcats Park. Jacksonville pitcher Shoichi Ikeda earned player of the game honors. In 7 innings, Ikeda surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 4. He allowed 1 run. Tadakatsu Murayama notched his 5th save in 7 chances.
Ian Riley drove in one run for Jacksonville. The 28-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Takayuki Tominaga. It was his 33rd RBI of the season.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Jacksonville manager Pete Dellow said.
The Hellcats now have a record of 27-49 with the win over Madison.
