The Long Island Ducks and Marysville Monarchs provided some drama at Mitts Fieldhouse.

The Marysville Monarchs defeated the Long Island Ducks, 6-5. Earning player of the game honors was pinch hitter Martin Whitney, who went 1-1 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Marysville reliever Walker Baldwin picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Roger Montgomery absorbed the loss. Brian Reddin was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 10 of 13 save opportunities.

Whitney had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 1-2 slider from Roger Montgomery, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Monarchs a 6-4 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Whitney.

"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said Whitney.

Marysville bumps their record to 34-42 with the win.
