The Topeka Predators got a stellar effort from pitcher Angel Chavez, helping Topeka score a 5-2 win over the visiting Long Island Ducks. Dean Archer converted his 2nd save in 3 tries. The third-place Predators improved to 34-41.

Topeka took a 5-2 lead on Carlos Carranza's 4th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Long Island pitcher Roger Montgomery in the bottom of the seventh.

"We take it day by day here," said Carranza, "and today was a good one for us."
