Snaps Solve Bulldogs, 3-2
|
The Cincinnati Snaps got a strong performance from pitcher Diego Castro, who stymied the Spokane offense en route to a 3-2 win at The Kennel. Cincinnati reliever Mike Mitchell picked up the win, bumping his record to 3-3. Kevin Labbee was collared with the loss. Armando Hernández converted his 2nd save in 3 tries.
The Snaps got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Ken Simpson. For the game, Simpson was 1-1 with a home run. In the top of the ninth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Cincinnati a 3-2 lead.
Spokane manager Chris Carpenter said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
Cincinnati is now 31-42, Spokane 33-38.
