Marysville third baseman Kyousuke Ohnuki was sensational. He hit 2 home runs, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Riverside beat the Monarchs, 9-6. Ohnuki was named the player of the game despite the loss. The Red Bulls now have a record of 40-32.

Had Li-xue Liu not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Liu hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the Red Bulls.

"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Liu told reporters after the game.
