Ducks Score Late to Upend Snaps, 5-2
|
Long Island and Cincinnati duked it out at Long Island Stadium and the Ducks came out victorious.
The Long Island Ducks picked up a win at Long Island Stadium, knocking off the Cincinnati Snaps, 5-2. Starting pitcher Yasukazu Kouda was an essential part of his team's success. Long Island reliever Roger Montgomery was the winner. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Octávio Pérez.
Had Oscar Saenz not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Saenz hit a 2-run double. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Ducks.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Kouda.
The 5th-place Snaps have lost 4 consecutive games.
