Madison right-hander Gilberto Vega helped his team edge Wichita by the score of 3-2. Vega kept the opposing lineup in check. Even with the win, the Beehive have a dismal 22-42 record.

Chuck McNeil had a big run-scoring single for the Beehive in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Madison leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Jay Retter and stroked the single to center. It was his 19th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Beehive ahead, 3-0.

"We're a talented bunch when we're playing well," said McNeil. "I think we showed that here."
