Predators Trounce Mustang, 10-1

The Topeka Predators knocked off the Carson City Mustang, 10-1, at The Field at Richmond. Carlos Carranza, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Topeka won. The first baseman went 2-3 with a double and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. The win was credited to Francisco Martínez in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Juan Cruz took the loss. Their 30-35 record puts the Predators third in the Roy Halladay League Jim Leyland Division.
Jim Bailey, who is tied for 7th in the RHL in bases on balls with 39, chipped in for Topeka with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the first. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Carranza told reporters after the game.
