Wolverines Need Extras to Top Storm Troopers
With left fielder Victor Portillo leading the charge, the Wichita Wolverines defeated the San Antonio Storm Troopers, 10-6, at The Clone Army. Portillo went 4-4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Wichita reliever Hiroo Okimura was credited with the win, to go to 2-4. Juan Ayala took the loss for San Antonio. Wichita is now 41-19, 5 games up in the Roy Halladay League Jim Leyland Division.

Portillo had a game-changing home run in the top of the tenth. On a 2-1 fastball from Juan Ayala, he banged a 3-run home run to left-center, giving the Wolverines a 9-6 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Portillo.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Clement Snow said.
