Fans who came to Basque Block Field watched the Frisco Rams and the Boise Hawks fight to the finish.
The Boise Hawks got a sterling performance from pitcher Mauro V嫙quez, but the Rams still prevailed, 5-4. V嫙quez was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 5 innings allowing 4 runs. Reliever Aaron Carter picked up the win. His record improves to 2-1. Francisco Cohen took the loss. Mike Huerta, credited with the save, is now 3 for 4 in save opportunities.
John Bloom was 1-3 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs for Frisco. The 22-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the top of the eighth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring walk off Francisco Cohen. It was his 19th walk of the season.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Bloom said after the game.
The Rams bumped their record to 32-28 with this latest triumph.
