The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of DeKalb fans at The Corn Crib.

The DeKalb Cornhuskers topped the Sandy Springs Spartans, 11-8, at The Corn Crib. DeKalb left fielder Willie Zavala earned player of the game honors. He banged out 2 singles and 1 double, while driving in 1 runs. Bill Neville converted his 14th save in 16 tries.

The Cornhuskers got a big at-bat from designated hitter Eric Daniels. For the game, Daniels was 1-5 with a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 8th double of the season gave DeKalb a 5-3 lead.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Daniels. "And not try to do too much."

The Cornhuskers are now 24-31, while the Spartans fall to 26-28.
