Wolverines Win Another One
The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of Wichita fans at Howling Park.

The Wichita Wolverines topped the Carson City Mustang, 8-1, with designated hitter Manny Gonzáles playing a big role. Gonzáles was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Wolverines in the win. Reliever Luis Hernández picked up the win. His record improves to 4-0. Jack Thompson took the loss.

The Wolverines got a big at-bat from right fielder Bob Wright. For the game, Wright went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 18th home run of the season gave Wichita a 3-1 lead.

"The vibe's good," said Wichita manager Clement Snow. "We've got to keep it going."

The first-place Wolverines have won 8 in a row.
