Wolverines Score Late to Upend Predators, 5-3
|
The Wolverines had to overcome a good performance from Topeka pitcher Juan Disla to claim a 5-3 win at The Field at Richmond. Disla went 8 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Wichita reliever Shu-de Tian was the winner. His record is now 2-0. Oscar Ruiz took the loss. Hiroo Okimura was called on to finish, recording his 16th save.
Raymond Spurrell had a nice at-bat for the Wolverines with no one out in the top of the ninth. With a runner on 2nd, the second baseman drew a walk, which would prove important in the Wichita win.
"Enjoyed this one," Spurrell told the Wichita News. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
The Wolverines bumped their record to 36-18 with this latest triumph.
