The skies opened up and the rain fell at The Kennel.
The Spokane Bulldogs picked up a win at The Kennel, knocking off the DeKalb Cornhuskers, 2-1. Starting pitcher Ruben Fernandez played a key role in the triumph. Fernandez went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 4, and struck out 9. His record improves to 6-3. Kevin Labbee earned his 4th save in 4 tries.
Dan Dusin, who is tied for 4th in the RHL with a .460 on-base percentage, aided the Spokane cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the left fielder was 1-2 with 2 walks.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Fernandez told the Spokane Bulletin.
The Cornhuskers, at 22-29, have lost 6 in a row.
